yes, I'm still here

Just wanted to give a brief update on all things Signal Art as things enter the 'middle of the year lull' that is common in the audio industry... I have been trying to take advantage of this opportunity to catch up on work and am making progress but likely still looking at another 3 months before 100% of all backlogged WA tube mic upgrades are completed and shipped out... Even though I take great pride in these upgrades and like to give each one the time it deserves, I can't deny that I am counting the days before I ever see these things again. I have 'spiritually' moved on from that work, even if I have not yet physically been able to. And for anyone who needs to know, NO we no longer take orders for tube mic mods/repairs/etc. We only build our original handmade units and service those units. SAE doesn't do anything else. Please don't send inquiries about mods, any other brand named microphones, or anything outside of the limited handmade units we still make and sell on our site.
As some may have noticed, we are reducing our social media presence (which was never huge to begin with). There was/is a facebook page for Signal Art; but its not currently accessible to me since I deactivated my personal page, unfortunately. I like staying off the grid more these days, and so the best way forward is to reach out to me through this website or my personal email (it all goes to the same place) and I will respond. Think of us as a more underground company, a best kept secret as it were...
Some folks have asked why I stopped listing the EF800 version of our U47 reproduction and if it is coming back. Yes, I am in the process of re-designing the boards and actually designing a slightly different U47 body to accommodate the new boards... that is basically why. If anyone is curious, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the EF800 units we have already made and shipped.... in fact, 2 are being prepped to ship as I write this; but they are just VERY difficult to build into the current U47 body type that we fabricated... It needs to change to a triangular frame and rounded PCB structure, internally, for those who really need to know. It won't look different on the outside, but will be alot easier for me to put together on the inside and it will help me to more easily provide the tube some acoustic and thermal isolation than it currently is. So, we are taking a break from that version to make life easier for me until the new version is ready to debut... that's all. That is my hope to roll it out again probably next year sometime. Believe me, I have invested in a stash of BV8 transformers and NOS EF800 Telefunken tubes that I have no intention of wasting! It just has to be easier for me to put it together the way I want to. In the meanwhile, we still make the dual tube and solid state versions, which I fully stand behind, and there is a 'modern tube' version also in development which I plan to announce after I get caught up wtih other things.
We are still on track to have M49 bodies later this year. July is what I am realistically thinking and hope to start building the backordered units in July, and complete in August/Sept, and then hopefully start taking orders for them in general after that.
That's it for now!
in Audio,
Chad
