new imported M7 and other website updates

ree

We have a new imported M7 capsule that is now available as a 'baseline' edition 47 or 48, to compliment the already existing budget offering custom imported K47 capsule that we already offer. I am really excited about this find. It is not cheaply made by any means, but it does allow us to take $200 off of the premium version of the mic, or $300 off of the premium M7 version. This M7 kind of shatters my expectations of what a more mass production M7 can be; it has a big, bold sound and incredibly rich low end. Certainly holding its own against most everything out there. I'm really happy that we can now offer both a more budget conscious M7 and K47 along with the fully premium OPR K47 and M7 capsule offerings.

We've also fixed the webstore a bit with better visuals for the tube circuit options and straightened it out so you can now clearly order an historic (mechanical switch) 47 or 48 or the modern stock 'premium' (relay controlled) 47 or 48 with any of the 4 capsule configurations or with either of the two tube configurations (EF800 pentode or dualtube 408a pentode). In other words, all of the configurations are now possible... anything is possible. build your own 47 (or 48)!

We've been working on a few other things behind the scenes that I'm not quite ready to discuss yet; however there are a few things that we can talk about. We are working on one final 47 type circuit that has been in the works for many years now that will give folks a 100% modern topology option (zero NOS or esoteric parts) for an infinitely sustainable, modern U47 design. This design goes 'nerdy hi-fi' to a degree that we've never yet gone, and includes an end-to-end design completely free of electrolytic caps (even the PSU) and a completely calibration-free design that should in theory last forever. It is a novel design which uses an off-the-shelf 12AT7, believe it or not; and I have always said that I would not release this unless it truly honors the U47 legacy. This has been in the works for what seems like a lifetime and I'm hoping to finally show it soon, crossing fingers....

It's an open secret that we've also been working on our take of the M49, both a tube and a solid state edition. I continue to proof and prototype this, and it is working and sounding good. Making some final decisions on the output transformer and other features; but have not yet pulled the trigger in terms of getting the chassis mass produced.

That's it for now!

Chad
